Dr. Tom G. Geurts FRICS, currently serves as the William H. Dunkak Chair in Finance at Bucknell University. He also holds an appointment at the Technical University of Berlin, where he was awarded an Honorary Professorship. His teaching and research focus is on how the institutional framework affects global capital flows into various investment opportunities, such as stocks and real estate and he has been invited around the world to speak on this topic.
Beyond his academic career Tom worked as the Director of Research at Newmark (now Newmark Grubb Knight Frank), was Guest Advisor for Research and Analytics at CBRE New York, and was one of the founding partners of Cadence Capital, a boutique real estate advisory and investment management firm, where he advised a number of firms on their real estate holdings and investment portfolios. He has also lead several consulting seminars and advisory services for private investment and real estate firms, including IBM, Morgan Stanley, and Real Capital Analytics.
Dr. Geurts was awarded the Philip H. Sieg Fellowship at Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Ph.D. in Finance. He received two Masters degrees from the University of Amsterdam: Economics (1991) and Political Science (1992). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Higher Technical College in Zwolle.
